7kg pH Minus

pH Minus is used to reduce the pH of spa, swimspa and pool water. It is also know and dry acid.

The active pH range for hot tub water should between 7.0 and 7.6 with the closer to 7.0 being the ideal.  In general, pH is the measure of acidity or basicity (alkalineness) of the water and pH is measured on a logarithmic scale from 0 to 14. Values below 7 are acidic and above 7 are basic. Between 7.0 – 7.2 is a comfortable value for the human body and suitable for most sanitisers to be effective.

Chlorine is more active at a lower pH, so the nearer to pH 7.0 the better.  If the pH is allowed to rise towards pH 8.0, then approximately three times as much Chlorine is needed to provide the same “killing power”.

pH Minus is also known as Sodium Bisulphate, Dry Acid

The active pH range for hot tub water is between 7.0 and 7.6 with the closer to 7.0 being the ideal.

Values of pH above 7.6 will cause sanitisers such as chlorine to be less effective, may produce scaling on the surface of the equipment, cloudy water and shorter filter runs.

Values of pH below 7.0 will cause increased corrosion of surfaces and equipment and may cause eye and skin irritation.

To lower pH, the appropriate acid chemical (usually Dry Acid also known as Sodium Bisulphate, or more correctly known as Sodium Hydrogen Sulphate) should be added. The chemical solutions should be introduced by dispersing a 10% solution around the surface and perimeter of the hot tub. The hot tub water should be tested 30 minutes after treatment and any necessary action repeated.
