Top Tips for Hot Tub Festivities

Christmas is coming, what better way of celebrating small gatherings with family and friends than to sit back in toasty waters in the crisp winter air. However, there are some tips for making the party go as smoothly as possible.

1. Preparation

If you’re inviting people to use your hot tub, it’s important to do a little maintenance before they arrive. Make sure to clean out the hot tub, check the filters, then fill it up with fresh water and bring it to the right temperature. Best to do this the day before to make sure it is ready on time.

Even if you have advised guests to bring swimwear, chances are they won’t bring towels with them. It is a good idea to have a good supply of clean fluffy towels to keep guests warm out of the tub; in addition, this will help prevent puddles around the garden and house.

2. Aesthetics

Whether you have a particular Christmas Theme in mind or just want to create a more ambient feel, fairy lights are a fantastic way to go. Cost effective and easy to put up with minimum effort. You can also get away with non-mains versions hung over bushes and trees for a festive feel. They also help provide lighting for the dark winter evenings minimising the chance of slips and trips.

3. Music

No Christmas gathering would be complete without some festive songs. Make a playlist of your favourites to get your guests in the mood. Most spas now come with Bluetooth speakers as standard allowing you to connect your music without the risk of damaging your music system.

4.  Be safe!

Of course, there must always be a degree of safety involved. It is a good idea to set some ground rules. We have some top tips for keeping your guests as safe as possible.

  • Asking guests to shower first before they get in the tub.
  • With it being Christmas, a few festive beverages may be consumed. Make your guests aware the soporific effects of alcohol consumption can be enhanced during hot tub use and to keep hydrated.
  • Make sure the surfaces around the hot tubs are non-slip to help prevent and accidents.
  • Use plastic glasses instead of glass to prevent breakages and broken glass in and round the spa.
  • Let guests know the maximum amount of people allowed at one time.
  • Restrict guests to an amount of time in the spa (15 mins is the recommendation).
